Ooo...Band Photos

Here are some photos I shot for a local band (Honorable Mention). It was my first time shooting band photos, and I was afraid that they were either going to be really fun, or turn out really cheesy. After reviewing them, I've realized how difficult it is, (despite the fact that I shot double the amount of exposures as I usually do) to get a shot where everyone looks good. Even if I had 20 shots in the same position, there was always one where someone was blinking, or leaning too much to one side, or something of that variety. But overall, the guys were a lot of fun, and I think I got at least a few shots they can use for promo. Here are 3 that I've edited so far: (Click on each image if you want to see a larger version)

I ♥ JPEG

This is the latest photo that I just posted on my JPEG page. JPEG is a photo site/magazine (sold in Barnes & Noble). It's kiiind of like Flikr, but I feel like it's more interactive and organized. You can submit your photos to different categories and people vote on them. If you get enough votes, you get a cash prize, and your photo published in the magazine. Sweet deal, I think.

Check out my page, here.

No Class!

One day this semester when I had no class, I decided that I wanted to MAKE STUFF. I went to Michael's (craft store), got some water colors, came home and started doodlin'/printing/drawing/cutting/pasting/painting. This is what came of it:

If you click on each one, you can see a larger version of them in a new window.

Night Scenes

Lately I've become really interested in shooting scenes at night. I love the light quality at this time (especially if there's fog around). The contrast of light/dark and juxtaposition of construction with nature makes for some interesting photos. I shot the driveway at home this summer, and the parking lot was shot in October at a hotel outside Philadelphia where my brother had his wedding.

Photo Assisting with Leslie Scott

Leslie is a NYC based dance photographer whom I photo-assisted for on Saturday. She was shooting some body and head shots for dance and theatre majors. The shoot was so much fun. Leslie and her friend/assistant Allison were a pleasure to work with. It also helped me get my feet wet again with studio lighting. Everything came right back to me from my summer 07 internship.
I was co-assisting with a Raleigh photographer, who was also really nice and had been working in photography for well over 30 years. He showed us some of his work online, so I will be sure to post his site on here in the future. Below are some photos from the shoot.

In addition to being a photographer, Leslie is also a choreographer (among many things) and co-owns a dance company in NYC. Check out her website.
